We’ve made some big improvements all over Entalas Wayfinder, but a recent and important one is making it even easier to connect related captures explicitly using our browser extension.
Wayfinder works best in your organization when it has a large knowledge graph. When it comes down to it, a graph is pretty simple - nodes and edges.
Nodes in Wayfinder include captures (identified by a URL), people (Wayfinder users, wiki page authors, etc.), and realms (a grouping of captures, such as Jira tickets in a given project).
Edges in Wayfinder can be both implicit or explicit. Implicit edges are things like realm membership, or edges between captures and their author. Explicit edges can be created using our browser extension, or cataloged from our deeper integrations, such as Slack, Notion, and Confluence.
The new Connect Related Capture dialog box has several time-saving and handy features that make it even easier to build a well-connected knowledge graph for your organization:
- Typeahead search, matched word-by-word. This means searching
dev docswill find any potential connections that have bothdevanddocsin their name, description, or URL, in any order. - Helpful icons are displayed on each result to ensure you are connecting to the correct capture. If you’ve rated a capture thumbs up or thumbs down, the rating will be displayed so you are more likely to select the proper capture. Even if you haven’t rated it, we will show a composite rating from your teammates and coworkers. Waypoints also have a distinct icon.
- A unified interface to connect this capture to anything. In addition to listing captures, we also present items from your open tabs and recent history, and let you know what you’ve visited recently with a helpful icon. For privacy and security purposes, this is all done browser side inside the extension.
- If you want to link to something that isn’t yet captured, no problem! You can choose something from your recent history, or paste a URL and create a new capture node, and edge linking the two, on the fly.
